Description
20 King Street in Perth is a cottage dating from around 1835. It is a single-storey and attic building with three bays, featuring a later two-storey extension at the rear that creates a T-shaped plan. The exterior is constructed of rubble with contrasting painted margins, raised cills, and an eaves course. Central steps with decorative iron railings lead to a splayed corniced doorpiece adorned with interlace decoration on the frieze. The entrance door is a four-panel timber design. The cottage has a pair of piended, canted dormers and a later Velux rooflight.
The principal elevation, facing east, predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case replacement windows. The roof has raised skews and is covered with grey slates, complemented by gablehead stacks.
Inside, as observed in 2009, there have been some alterations to the original room layout, with simple cornicing and a part-glazed hall door.
The boundary wall surrounds the property on the east, north, and south sides. To the east, there is a low, coped rubble wall topped with metal railings and a vehicular access opening. The north and south walls are taller, coped rubble walls, with the southern wall being concrete rendered.
