5 Khyber Pass, Stromness

5 Khyber Pass is a late 18th century cottage that has undergone later alterations. It is a single storey and attic structure with a rectangular plan and two bays, built on ground that rises steeply to the west. The exterior is harled with an eaves course.

On the north (principal) elevation, there is a deep-set modern timber door located in the center bay, with a window to the right. The south (rear) elevation features a low-set window at ground level on the outer right side.

The east (side) elevation has a gabled wall with two bays. There is a window at ground level and a non-aligned attic window above in the right bay, while the left bay also has a ground-level window. A gablehead stack is present above.

The west (side) elevation consists of a single bay gabled wall, featuring an attic window to the left and a gablehead stack above.

The cottage has 4-pane timber-framed windows with top-hung upper lights. The roof is covered with graded Caithness slate, has a stone ridge, and includes rooflights on the south pitch. The gablehead stacks on the east and west elevations are harled and corniced, and there are uPVC rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen as of 1997.
