Description
46-48 Harbour Street in Irvine is a broad, two-storey house built in the earlier to mid-19th century, featuring a three-bay rectangular plan. The exterior is constructed of squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings, including a base course, eaves band, raised margins, and quoin strips.
On the northwest (principal) elevation, there is a wide central doorway with a two-leaf boarded door and a letterbox fanlight. The first floor has an off-centre window flanked by bays that contain stone mullioned bipartite windows, with larger windows at the ground floor.
The northeast and southwest elevations are part of a terrace. The property has four-pane timber sash and case windows of varying ages, with modern replacements at the ground floor of No 48. The roof is covered with grey slate and features stone skews and corniced ashlar gablehead stacks.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
