Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century house and shop, originally built as part of a street row, with a 20th-century shop front. It incorporates earlier elements in its construction. The front is rendered smooth, with an asbestos-cement slate roof that is hipped at one end, concealing a slightly higher gable. The prominent middle storey, set forward, suggests it may have previously functioned as an assembly room or inn. A smaller section is set back on the right, providing access to a throughway.

The house has two storeys and originally had two windows plus one, although the right-hand section features a more modern casement window. The ground floor has a full-width display window positioned over a rubble stall-board riser. The first floor has two 12-pane sash windows within architraves, with a large expanse of plain wall above.

The rear wing is clad in slate and features a good 18th-century six-panel door within a 19th-century porch. Inside the throughway are sections of square panel timber framing and a 19th-century stable door. Deep overhanging box eaves and an eaves stack are visible on the left side.
