Description
Sybils is a house and shop located on the north side of Church Street in Modbury. It is possibly from the 17th century but features a 19th-century front. The building has slate hanging, a rendered plinth, and a slate roof. It is two storeys high with one window. The late 19th-century display front includes a canted bay with a configuration of one, two, a door, two, and one plate glass panes, topped with a wooden cornice and flat roof, along with a glazed tile stall-board riser. The central door is a 20th-century glazed door. On the first floor, there is a replacement tripartite sash window without glazing bars. No chimneys are visible. The plinth steps forward, raising the building above the pavement slope. This property appears to have been built at the same time and as part of No 27 to its left. It stands behind the conduit in the street.
