Description

The Club is a broad-fronted house that is part of a row with shops, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with some later window modifications. The building has a smooth rendered exterior and a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and features three windows.

On the ground floor, the left side has a late 19th-century canted bay window with a lead hipped roof and 2:4:2 pane sashes. To the right, there is a large canted 19th-century display window with 1:2:2:1 plate glass panels and a central door accessed by two shaped granite steps, topped with a dentilled cornice. An off-centre, left entrance features a six-panel fielded door in a pilaster surround with a cornice that has Greek key decoration, along with an over-light and panelled reveals.

The first floor has a 12-pane sash window with an architrave and key, and a notable canted bay window with 8:12:8 panes, complete with a frieze, cornice, and flat roof. The second floor has two 9-pane sashes, with the upper sash divided into six panes and the lower into three panes, and to the right, there is a 12-pane sash above the canted bay. The windows are arranged in an offset pattern of two and one.

The building features a good modillion eaves cornice and a rendered stack on the left side. It is slightly stepped forward from the adjoining property to the left. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to contain some ceiling plasterwork.
