Description
This building is a three-storey, three-bay house that includes shops, dating from the 19th century. It features a scribed roughcast front, a slate roof, and a shared roughcast chimney stack on the left side. The shop front has plate glass wood-mullioned windows supported by small brackets. The left-hand window is a single light, while the right-hand side has two unequal lights. The original central door has been removed, but its overlight remains. Inside the former doorway, there are two splayed inserted doorways that lead to the subdivided interior. Above the shop front, there is a narrow fascia and cornice, with a deeper fascia in the centre that supports a large tablet with a moulded arched head and scrollwork sides, inscribed 'No 5 High Street'. On the left end, there is a recessed 20th-century replacement fielded-panel house door with a small-pane hexagonal glazed panel, topped by an overlight. The first floor features oriel windows on the right and left with renewed four-pane horned sash windows. The upper storey has nine-pane horned sash windows on the right and left, along with a blind central window. The rear of the building, which is pebble-dashed and has two windows, includes a one-and-a-half-storey gabled projection with a central segmental-headed stair window and sash windows on the second floor. The building has been modernised and converted into two shops.
