Description
No. 8 Church Street is a house and shop located in Modbury, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The building is rendered and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has two windows. The ground floor showcases a full-width plate glass display window that slightly projects and is canted, consisting of a 2+2 light arrangement with a central pair of glazed doors. These doors are set back and topped with a deep overlight, beneath a continuous plain fascia and moulded cornice. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane sash windows set in raised plain surrounds with cornices supported by consoles. The second floor features 4-pane sash windows within moulded architraves, positioned just below the box eaves. There are slight pilasters on the left and right sides of the building. This property is included in the register primarily for its group value.
