Description
No. 5 Roscoe is a house and shop located in Ashburton, dating from the late 19th century, with a shop front added in the late 20th century. The building features solid rendered walls and a slated roof adorned with crested ridge tiles and a terracotta finial on the bay window. It is two storeys high and two windows wide, with the right-hand window being a full-height canted bay topped with a hipped roof. The house door is situated to the left and is framed by rusticated pilasters and a bracketed entablature. The door itself is panelled with round-headed upper panels. Above the door, the second-storey window has a bracketed sill, flanking pilasters, and 2-paned sashes that include blue and green panels at the top of the upper sash. The bay windows are similar, but the ground storey features plain display windows in the lower part. The building is finished with a bracketed eaves-cornice.
