Description
No. 40 Teme Street is a house and shop built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has a dentilled eaves cornice. The structure has a single bay.
On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window with a stepped rusticated lintel and a moulded keyblock, while the second floor has a 6-pane sash window with a rusticated lintel. The ground floor showcases a 19th-century shop front with tapered outer pilasters. Slender inner panelled pilasters flank four rectangular windows, which include a transom light inserted into a blocked former shop window opening. There are entrances on either side, each featuring half-glazed doors and a transom light above.
