Description
Nos 43 and 45 on Teme Street are a house and shop dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed with rendered infill, partly covered in stucco, and features a plain tiled roof with a central ridge stack. It consists of two framed bays oriented north to south, with a central chimney. The structure has two storeys and the framing includes five panels from the sill to the wall-plate, long straight lower corner braces, and a collar and tie-beam truss with two collars, struts, and a V-strut in the apex visible at the north end.
On the east front elevation, there is a 2-light leaded casement window flanked by single-light leaded windows, along with a canted oriel window that has a modillion cornice and a central 12-pane sash on the first floor. The ground floor features a continuous half-glazed lean-to addition with two glazed doors.
