Description
The Dovecot at Mains of Rochelhill, dated 1713, is a single-chamber, rectangular-plan lectern dovecot. It features narrow bands of coursed rubble with a dressed rubble doorway. The structure has a stepped rat course and alighting ledge made of Angus stone slate, along with an ashlar cornice. The roof is covered with Angus stone slate and has ashlar-coped skews.
On the southeast elevation, there are steps leading up to the central door, which has dated door jambs. Above the door, there is an armorial panel inscribed with "HOP IN THE HEIST" and dated 1565, positioned over the alighting ledge and a corniced canopy that forms the base of a pointed-arch opening.
Inside, the stone nesting boxes are in good condition.
