Glamis Schoolhouse, Dundee Road, Glamis

Glamis Schoolhouse, built in 1839 and altered in 1870, is a two-storey, three-bay schoolhouse featuring Tudor detailing, located on Dundee Road in Glamis. It has a stugged ashlar finish with droved margins and a deep base course.

On the northeast elevation, there is an advanced gable to the left of center, which includes a bipartite window on each floor. To the right, a lean-to stone porch is situated in the re-entrant angle, featuring a panelled timber door and a four-pane fanlight to the northwest. There is another bipartite window in the bay to the right, with the first-floor window breaking the eaves into a gabled dormer head.

The northwest elevation presents a gabled facade with a bipartite window on each floor. The southeast elevation has two bays, with the right bay featuring an advanced single-storey gabled bay that includes a window. There is an additional window to the left on the first floor, positioned above the lean-to roof of the single-storey bay. The southwest elevation connects to the adjoining primary school.

Inside, the schoolhouse features some plain cornicing, a stone staircase with plain cast-iron railings, and panelled shutters and soffits. The windows are timber sash and case with 8-pane and plate glass glazing patterns. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and the chimney stacks are made of coped ashlar with a battered string course and a full complement of polygonal cans, along with ashlar-coped sawtooth skews and moulded block skewputts.
