Description
The building is a detached kiln and stables, likely rebuilt in the late 18th century. It consists of a two-storey corn mill with an outside wheel, stables, and a detached single storey granary and kiln with a basement. The structure is made of roughly coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features some chamfered arrises.
The corn mill is situated on ground that slopes to the southeast. The southeast elevation has an opening to the outer left at both the ground and first floors, with a larger opening in the center at the first floor. The southwest elevation has an M-shaped gable with the water wheel located to the right, below an opening in the gable head. To the left is a gable that is single storey only and features a modern window.
On the northeast elevation, there is an advanced gable to the left with a door at the first floor, which is accessed from a timber platform adjoining the detached kiln and stable block. The recessed gable to the right has a modern window. The northwest elevation has been altered and now includes a large garage door.
The kiln and granary are also located on ground sloping to the southeast. The south elevation features a bay to the left of center with a timber door and a small adjacent window to the right. There is a stone forestair leading to another door at the right in a slightly angled bay, and a small pitch-roofed stone projection at the outer right with windows on the front and return to the right. The east elevation has a tall gable end with a small window at the first floor. The west elevation has a small opening at the first floor. The north elevation is single storey only, with a timber door breaking the eaves into a gabled dormer head at the center, and a canted plinth with a metal cowl at the outer left of the roof ridge.
The roofing is mainly corrugated iron, with Angus stone slate used for the pitch-roofed projection of the kiln.
