Description
The Dovecot at Addistoun is an earlier 18th century double-chambered, two-stage lectern dovecot. It is constructed from rubble with harl-pointing, featuring ashlar quoins and stugged sandstone margins. The building has crowstepped gables and ashlar coping along the roof ridge, with a rat course that has slate coping and two gables, the upper one also featuring course coping.
On the south elevation, there are two bays with a blank ground floor and two window openings at the upper stage; the right opening is blocked and has chamfered arrises. The east elevation has a door at the center of the ground floor. The west and north elevations are both blank.
Inside, there are sandstone nesting boxes, totaling 828. The roof is a grey slated lean-to with a horizontal break and flight holes at the lower level of the roof.
