Description
The Dovecot at Newhailes in Musselburgh is an earlier to mid 18th century, two-storey lectern dovecot. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with harl-pointing and ashlar dressings, featuring a rat course. There is a door on the south side with a fanlight above, and three bull's-eye flight-holes in the upper storey. The sides are blank and have three-stepped skews. Originally, there was a gabled dormer with flight-holes at the centre of the roof, which has since disappeared. The roof is covered with grey slate and is in a ruinous condition. Inside, there are nesting boxes lining the walls.
