Description
The North Entrance of Dalmahoy House, likely designed by William Adam around 1725, features two gatepiers and a boundary wall on the northern access. The gatepiers are fluted with vermiculated bands and channelled quoins. They have a swagged frieze, a deeply-moulded cornice, and a ball finial, although the finial on the right is a modern replacement. The piers are buttressed at the rear, with blinded panels to the right and left of each pier, showcasing ashlar margins and banded vermiculation. The pier cap on the left is set on the wall and includes a frieze with rosettes and a moulded cap. The boundary wall is constructed of rubble with ashlar slab coping, and the wall to the left has been heavily repointed.
