Description
Hatton Mains Cottages, located at Easter Hatton Mains, are a pair of single-storey cottages built in the earlier 19th century. They have a symmetrical, rectangular plan with three bays and steeply-pitched gables, positioned facing each other on either side of a secondary west entrance. The cottages are constructed from sandstone rubble with droved ashlar margins.
On the main elevation, there is a central door flanked by windows. The door of the eastern cottage is plain boarded with a three-pane upper panel, while the western cottage features a plate-glass upper panel. Both cottages have 12-pane sash and case windows. The roof is covered with red pantiles and has a slate easing course. Ashlar coping is present at the skews, and there are sandstone, corniced stacks at the apex.
The gatepiers are flanked by rubble walls that extend from the southern end of the cottages, terminating in a circular ashlar pier with a domed cap. The left pier is missing its cap, while the right pier is askew and in poor condition.
