Description
This building is a classical townhouse located at 47 Marischal Street in Aberdeen, dating from the later 18th century. It is two storeys high with an attic and basement, featuring five bays and constructed from Loanhead granite ashlar with raised margins. The design includes an eaves band and a projecting cornice.
The central bay has a timber door topped by an elaborate fanlight, framed by a lugged and roll-moulded surround. There are two small triangular pedimented dormers. The ground and first floors have 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the basement features fixed-pane windows with glazing bars. The roof is covered with grey slate, and the building has ashlar skews. The chimney stack is coped with ashlar on the street side and red brick at the rear, topped with clay cans.
