Bank, 55, 57 Marischal Street, Aberdeen

This building is a bank located at 55 and 57 Marischal Street in Aberdeen, dating from the later 18th century. It is a two-storey townhouse with an attic, featuring three bays and situated on a sloping site. The exterior is constructed of grey granite ashlar, with a band course between the first and second storeys and an eaves band. The window openings have slightly recessed cills and aprons. The central bay and the immediate right feature panelled two-leaf timber doors with segmental-arched surrounds and fanlights. There is a 16-pane window to the far right and a segmental-arched window to the far left. The building also has a pair of canted piended dormers.

On the first floor, there are 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The rear of the building, facing Shore Lane, has irregular fenestration with segmental arch doorways at ground level and an arched window on the second floor stair. The roof is covered with grey slates and features a coped ridge stack made of granite ashlar at the front and red brick at the rear, with clay cans.
