Description
56 Marischal Street is a symmetrical townhouse built between 1789 and 1821. It is two stories high and has three bays, situated on a sloping site. The building is constructed from grey granite ashlar and features an eaves band. The central bay has a slightly recessed doorway with a timber panelled door and a rectangular fanlight above. There are two tripartite canted piended dormers on the roof. The rear elevation is four stories tall and has irregularly placed windows.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there is a red brick stack on the left gable with granite ashlar facing. The building also has clay cans and recessed cast-iron rainwater goods.
