34, 34A Marischal Street, Aberdeen

34 and 34A Marischal Street in Aberdeen is a classical townhouse built around 1790 to 1821. It stands three storeys high with an attic and features a symmetrical five-bay design on a sloping site. The exterior is made of grey granite ashlar with raised cills, a moulded double eaves band that returns to the south-facing gable, and a moulded cornice. The central entrance has a panelled timber door topped by a rectangular fanlight. To the far left, there is a further recessed timber door with a dentilled architrave and a three-panel rectangular fanlight above it. The street elevation includes two canted and piended dormers.

The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows throughout, with a regular arrangement on the upper storeys and a window on the gable end at the far left. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a ridge stack on the right, featuring ashlar facing to the street and red brick to the rear, with clay cans. The gable end has a coped ashlar stack and skew. Recessed rainwater goods are present. At the rear, there is a five-storey section with regular fenestration, and a later harled five-storey outshot with a piended roof has been added to the central bay.

The interior was not visible during the last inspection in 2006.
