35, 37, 37A Marischal Street, Aberdeen

35, 37, and 37A Marischal Street in Aberdeen is a classical townhouse built in the later 18th century. This three-storey building with an attic features five bays and is situated on a sloping site. It is constructed from Loanhead granite ashlar with raised margins and alternating lighter granite dressings, and it has a moulded eaves course.

The central bay of the façade has a timber door for No 37, flanked by timber doors for Nos 35 and 37A, each with rectangular fanlights above. The door to 37A is recessed, creating a porch for the shop, and there is a large fixed-pane window to the right. The mansarded roof has a pair of bipartite triangular pedimented dormers on either side of a single dormer.

The building features 12-pane timber sash and case windows and is covered with grey slates. The right gable has an ashlar coped skew, while the coped ridge stack is made of granite ashlar on the street side and red brick at the rear, with clay cans. Additionally, cast-iron rainwater goods are present. The rear elevation rises to five storeys.
