17, 19, 21 Marischal Street, Aberdeen

17, 19, 21 Marischal Street is a classical townhouse built in the later 18th century, consisting of three storeys and an attic, arranged over a sloping site. The building is constructed from Loanhead granite ashlar and features lugged architrave mouldings around the central door and first-floor windows, with raised margins at the second floor and a moulded eaves course. The pitched roof includes a central pedimented dormer, which is flanked by larger canted dormers. The ground floor on the right has a shop frontage, while the recessed door at No 21 is accompanied by a cast iron gate and a fixed pane window at the far right.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The right gable has an ashlar coped skew, and there is a coped stack made of granite ashlar facing the street and red brick at the rear, with clay cans. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods and a regular glazing pattern at the rear.

Inside, some original cornicing was noted at the ground floor during a partial inspection in 2006.
