48 Marischal Street, Aberdeen

48 Marischal Street is a townhouse built around 1789 to 1821, featuring three storeys and two bays, located on a sloping site. The ground floor includes a secondary entrance to the Elim Pentecostal Church on the left. The building is constructed from grey granite ashlar and has an eaves band. The main entrance is a recessed doorway with a six-panel timber door, narrow glazed sidelights, and an astragalled cast-iron fanlight above. To the left, there is a segmental-arched entrance that leads to the adjacent Elim Pentecostal Church. The right bay has tripartite openings with stone mullions on the first and second floors, and decorative cast-iron balconies adorn the first-floor windows. The rear elevation rises to five storeys and features irregular fenestration.

The windows on the first and second floors are multi-pane timber sash and case with glazed margins in the tripartite openings. The roof is covered in grey slate, and there is a red brick stack on the left gable that has granite ashlar facing. The building also features an ashlar skew and clay cans, along with recessed cast-iron rainwater goods.
