Description

This is a late 18th-century town house, now used as a bank, located on Westgate in Guisborough. The building is constructed of chevron-dressed sandstone with a mid-20th century clay tiled roof, stone gable copings, and two stacks with cornice caps. It is three storeys high and five bays wide. The ground floor has been altered with a mid-20th century bank frontage in ashlar, rusticated and banded, featuring mask keystones above the doorway and the left-hand window. Passage doorways are located to the right. The upper floors contain mid-20th century casement windows within the original openings, which retain glazing bars, stone sills, and keystones, as well as rusticated quoins. Extensions to the rear, on the north side, are not considered to be of architectural interest.
