Description
The Market Cross and drinking fountain, located in the middle of the road at Guisborough Market Place, dates from the mid-18th century and was altered in 1817. It features a tapered square sandstone shaft set on a moulded plinth, which rests on a large, dressed sandstone pedestal. The top is capped with a square stone block that has sundials on the south, east, and west faces, supporting a stone globe topped with a wrought iron compass point and a weather vane finial. The listing also includes a late 19th-century drinking fountain made of pink granite, which is attached to the west side of the pedestal.
