Description

Single storey rubble-built vernacular house of probable mid 19th century origin with a gabled porch to the right of centre. The house is on the E side of the Moyadd Road, approximately 8 kilometres W of Newcastle. HB18/13/074A The W front is asymmetrical and has a relatively large gabled porch to the right of centre with a window opening to gable and a doorway to S face. To either side of the porch is a window opening. In all the window openings the frames are missing and the doorway appears to have lost its door. The S gable is blank. The N gable has a gabled shed attached (rubble-built with a corrugated iron roof). The writers were unable to get a view of the rear façade. The roof is finished in natural slate and the walls are finished in random rubble. HB18/13/074B Within the adjacent field to the S is a small single room cottier’s dwelling. This is gabled and to the N front is a timber sheeted door to the right side and a boarded up window opening to the left There is some trace of an abutting building on the W gable. The roof is finished in natural slate. The walls are finished in random rubble brought to courses and there are rough in / out quoins to the corners.
