House off Slievnaman Road, Moyad, Newcastle, County Down, BT33 0QD

This is a long, single-storey, rubble-built vernacular house, likely constructed before 1834, and potentially between 1840 and 1859. It is situated at the head of a long, narrow lane to the south of the Slievenaman Road, approximately 8 kilometres west of Newcastle. The house is currently used as a shelter for cattle.

The south front is asymmetrical and features a small, gabled lean-to porch centered on the facade. Two small sash windows with vertical glazing bars (two panes over two) are positioned on either side of the porch. The porch roof mirrors the main roofline and both are finished with natural slate. A timber sheeted door is located at the far left of the front facade; this western portion of the building appears to have once functioned as a byre, though the presence of a chimney stack suggests it was formerly part of the main house. The west and east gables are blank, as is the north rear elevation. The south, west and east faces of the building are finished in random rubble, while the north face has been harled. Four potless chimney stacks are evenly spaced along the ridge of the roof.

A building is depicted on Ordnance Survey maps of 1834 and 1859 at this location, most likely corresponding to the present house. In 1863, the valuation records listed an occupant named Mark Cunningham, with the house possessing a rateable value of £1-10-0. The building was recorded as derelict.
