ST4619 MARTOCK CP NORTH STREET (East side)

12/310 Nos 85 and 87 with front boundary railings -

Pair of houses in row, Later C17. Ham stone ashlar; double Roman clay tile roof between abutments; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys, 3 bays in all. No 85, single bay, has ovolo mould mullioned windows, of 3 lights with horizontal bar infills, with a label to the lower; boarded door with light set in placed in opening to left: No 87 occupies 2 bays, with hollow chamfer mullioned windows, that to lower by 2 having plain casements inserted; to lower bay 1 a cambered arched doorway with incised spandrils set under deep lintol with square label. Interiors not seen. Two metres west of the houses a plain wrought iron railing having arrowhead points and quarter-circle braces, no gates, but at each end coped stone wall returns to house; all adding to the setting of the houses and the streetscene.
