Description

This is a former inn, now two houses, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of Ham stone ashlar on a rubble plinth, with a Welsh slate roof, coped gables, and brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has six bays. A plinth and band course run around the building. The windows are 16-pane sash windows in plain surrounds. 19th-century doors are located in bays 2 and 5; the door to number 47 is part-glazed and set in a recessed surround with beaded details. A false 3-centred arch marks the throughway in the lower bay 3. The interior was not inspected. To the front of number 45, spear-point railings are set on a low stone base wall with cast iron standards, although there is no gate. A brick return wall is located on the south side. These railings, along with the return wall, contribute to the setting of the house and the streetscene.
