Description
The Close is a detached house located at No. 2 North Street, with origins dating back to the 17th century. It was extended and likely remodeled in the 19th century. The building is constructed of ham stone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof with stepped coped gables and stone chimney stacks.
It has two storeys and two bays, with hollow chamfered mullioned windows of three lights under shared labels on both levels. Between the bays, there is a boarded and studded door set in a cambered archway. To the north, there is a single bay extension with a hipped Welsh slate roof, which includes a flat-roofed two-storey angled bay window with sash windows, margined on the front face.
The return elevation on the north side has three bays, with mullioned windows that match those on the front, featuring common labels for the first and second bays at both levels, and a separate upper bay for the third. The lower bay three has a door in a plain semi-circular arched recess with a keystone. The interior has not been seen.
