No 51 and Front Boundary Railings

No. 51 on North Street is a detached cottage, likely built in the 18th century. It features cut and squared ham stone, with the north gable rendered. The thatched roof has a stepped coped gable on the south side and a plain gable on the north side, along with brick chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows on the lower level are small pane casements set in plain ashlar surrounds, while the upper level has 2-light horizontal bar casements, with the third bay having a coped gable. There is a boarded door with an inserted light in a plain opening, sheltered by a thatched hood supported by timber brackets. The interior has not been seen.

Two metres west of the house, there are front boundary railings set in a low stone wall, featuring alternate hoops and arrowheads, with cast tops to the standards and a later gate opposite the floor. The rubble stone return walls contribute to the setting of the house and enhance the streetscape.
