Description
No. 12 is a detached cottage located on Back Lane, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed from ham stone rubble and features a thatched roof with plain gables and brick chimney stacks. The cottage has two storeys and a two-bay south elevation that is positioned at right angles to the road. The windows are horizontal-bar casements, with the lower set placed in segmental-arched openings beneath two courses of arched brickwork. There is a doorway between the bays, which is sheltered by a porch made of concrete blocks and covered with a corrugated iron sheet roof. To the left of the first bay, there is a lean-to greenhouse, and there is also a lean-to building with clay pantiled roofs against each gable. The interior has not been seen.
