The Old Post Office, And Water Hydrant About 2 Metres South-East, Also Boundary Markers To South

The Old Post Office is a detached house dating from the 18th century, constructed of local stone rubble that is rendered and colourwashed, with ashlar detailing on the front elevation. The building features a double Roman clay tiled roof that is hipped at the west end and has a return to the north at a slightly higher level, along with a brick chimney stack set on a rendered base. The house has an 'L'-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with five bays.

On the ground floor, there are three-light horizontal-bar casement windows in bays one and two, a 20th-century casement window in bay four, and a single-light small-pane casement in bay five. The upper floor contains three- and two-light leaded casement windows of an early design. Bay three features a boarded door in a heavy frame, topped with a flat timber hood supported by wrought iron brackets. The west side elevation includes a door and two casements, as well as a pump with wood casing, a lead spout, and a semi-circular stone bowl beneath it.

Approximately 2 metres southeast of the house is a cast iron water hydrant from the late 19th century, which has a fluted pillar on a plinth. The hydrant is adorned with a band at the top that features a lion's head and four keyed stopped spouts, topped with a fluted domical head and a bud finial. This hydrant is one of several in the village. Additionally, about 2 metres from the house, marking the southern boundary, is a row of seven cast-iron slim moulded bollards that were formerly fitted with iron tube toprails.
