Description
The Haselbury Plucknett War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was amended after the Second World War. It is made of granite and features a cross with carved beading and scroll embellishments, which sits atop a decoratively-shaped plinth. This plinth stands on a three-tiered stepped base and includes a raised cruciform stone plaque. The plaque is decorated with medallions at each corner and bears the inscription: 'TO THE/ GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN EVERLASTING MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF HASELBURY/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR/ COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1919', along with the names of those who died during the conflict. Additionally, the dates 1939-1945 and the names of those who died during the Second World War have been added to one of the plinth's side faces.
