Description

The water hydrant located outside Bramble Cottage is a cast iron structure produced by Glenfield and Kennedy of Kilmarnock, dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century.

It features a fluted pillar standing on a plinth, topped with a band that supports a fluted domical cap adorned with a bud finial. A lion head is cast into one side of the hydrant, and there are four spouts with keyed stoppers integrated into the band. The hydrant is painted black, with the lion-head mask highlighted in gold.
