Description

The property is a detached house, dating to the 18th and early 19th centuries, although it likely incorporates earlier elements. It is constructed of roughly cut and squared local stone, rendered on the main facade, with a Welsh slate roof over stone slate base courses. The roof has stepped coped gables set to differing pitches, and brick and rendered chimney stacks. The house follows a ā€œZā€ plan, with a north elevation of four bays, the fourth of which is a projecting gabled wing. The windows are mullioned, with hollow-chamfered recesses and inserted small-pane casements. The upper bays 1 and 2 have three lights, while the lower bays 1 and 2 have four lights, all with labels. Bay 4 has a plain gable with a plinth. Bay 3 is blank above a six-panel door, which is protected by a mid-19th century Regency/Gothic style open timber porch with a flat roof and elliptical-arched colonade extending along the east flank of the projecting wing. To the west side of this wing is an angled bay window in Gothic style with one, four, and one traceried lights, a low crenellated parapet, a casement, and three matching mullioned windows. A wing extending southwards from the south-east corner has leaded casement windows in the east wall, with labels on the lower windows. The Haselbury Wing, attached to the south-west corner, has undergone external alterations. The interior was not inspected. Wrought-iron railings with necked spikes and urn finials to standards run along the east and north boundaries, supported by a low ashlar wall, contributing to the setting of the house. The railings curve at the south-east corner and link to the main porch.
