Description

Mill House is a detached house, likely dating from the 17th century with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble with flush rusticated dressed stone quoins and ashlar dressings around the doorway. The roof is covered with double Roman tiles. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with a three-window south front. It has 19th-century casement windows throughout, with those to the upper two storeys set in original openings. Three gabled dormers light the attic space. A central 19th-century Tudor-arched doorway has a hoodmould with block stops, leading to a porch and a four-panel 19th-century door with the top two panels glazed. Three brick ridge stacks are present. Lean-to outshuts extend from the left and right hand sides, and there is a further extension to the rear. The interior of the house is not accessible. Mill House contributes significantly to the village landscape, alongside the nearby Masonic Lodge and Gauge House.
