Gate Lodge and Gates. Early C19 and c.1930 respectively. Lodge of limewashed render with tree trunk supports to eaves and plain tile roof. Wrought iron gates. Cottage Orne style lodge, square on plan of storey with trefoil-headed Gothick windows with intersecting Y tracery in 12-pane sashes with reeded sills. Tree trunks set on octagonal stone blocks with branches connecting each to form a lattice pattern. The trunks create a loggia around the south and east faces of the building. Doorway in east face has raised battening in ogee Gothick shapes and a traceried ogee-headed fanlight. Beneath the loggia at the north east corner is a section of rootwork walling which forms an outshut within the loggia. Patterned pebbles on loggia floor. Pyramidal roof with central octagonal panelled stone stack. Later brick outshut to rear. Interior. Gothick chimney piece and cupboards in room to east. 2 pedestrian gates and central 2-leaf gate with Tudor rose wrought iron panels and urn finials. The gate lodge relates to the former Coombe Lodge which was replaced by the present house built 1930-2 (q.v.). The gates were erected at that time.
