Description
The Lodge, along with its gatepiers and gates, was built in 1839 for John Okes and features later extensions. It is constructed from gault brick with stone dressings and has a plain-tile roof adorned with ornamental brick stacks that include both single and double flues. Designed in the Tudor style, it has stone-coped gables with kneelers. The building is single storey, with the front facing the road showcasing two gables, each featuring a 3-light casement window and a probable infill section that includes a door and a 2-light casement. There is a lean-to on the right end. The left end, which faces the gates and drive, has a 2-light casement, a projecting porch with a now-blocked doorway, and a gable to the left that contains the current entrance. Additional casements are present at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The gault brick gatepiers have been recently rebuilt but still retain their original moulded stone tops, along with a pair of elaborate cast-iron gates. The lodge shares a similar architectural style with Cherry Hinton Hall, and together with the gatepiers and gates, they create a cohesive group that serves as an introduction to the hall.
