Description
The outbuildings to Manor Farmhouse consist of a range of farm buildings, including barns and a byre, dating from the early 19th century. Constructed from ham stone rubble, they feature hipped Welsh slate roofs and a brick chimney stack. The buildings form a 'U'-shaped plan around a courtyard and are two storeys high. Inside, there are king post roof trusses and a variety of casement windows and doorways, mostly set in voussoired flat-arched openings. The roof of the east wing has been covered in corrugated iron.
Along the east side of the east wing, there is a 10-bay open byre that appears to be contemporary with the main building. This byre is designed as a lean-to with a double Roman clay tiled roof between stepped coped gables, supported by king-post and brace trusses, with intermediate columns in a simple Doric style on plain bases. Local tradition suggests these columns were removed from the nearby Church of St Michael and All Angels, although this is considered unlikely. In the center of the courtyard, there is a single-storey building with a double Roman clay tiled roof and some random rubble walling. The entire complex has significant group value with Manor Farmhouse.
