Description
Hill House is a detached house dating from the 18th century and has been modified over time. It is constructed from local stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressing and features a plain clay tile roof with simple gables, set behind a low parapet on the north elevation. The house has rendered end chimney stacks and is two storeys high with three bays. It has a plinth, a simple course moulded and plain parapet, and keystones with smooth ashlar surrounds, featuring triple keystones above four-pane sash windows. The central bay includes a six-fielded panel door with a Regency pattern cast iron semi-circular fanlight above, set in a painted timber surround with fluted Tuscan pilasters that support an entablature adorned with metopes and rosettes, topped with an ovolo pediment. The interior has not been seen. Hill House appears on the Tithe commissioners map of 1839.
