Description
The Templecombe War Memorial is a war memorial built around 1921, with the architect unknown. It is made of local stone and features a platform that is approximately 1.5 meters square. The memorial consists of a floriated cross that stands about 4.5 meters high. This cross is formed from an octagonal shaft that extends into a cross of octagonal section, with cusping on the arms. The shaft is set into a square plinth that has chamfered edges at the top and a moulded base. The plinth is positioned on a three-stepped, octagonal stone platform. The top step of the platform displays a carved inscription around all eight sides, which reads: "REMEMBER THOSE WHO DIED ACROSS THE SEA FOR ENGLAND’S LIBERTY." The inscription is crafted in a very elaborate Serif font.
