Description

An 18th-century pair of cottages with shops, located on the west side of High Street in Abbas and Templecombe. The buildings are constructed from local stone rubble, rendered with a colourwash, and have a simple gabled clay tile roof. Brick chimney stacks are positioned at the ends and between the bays. The two-storey front has four bays. The majority of the windows are casements with snail-pane glazing, though the lower bay two features a 16-pane sash window and the lower bay one has a matching casement. A boarded, part-glazed door, accessed by two steps, sits alongside the casement in bay one. An older boarded door, recessed, is in bay three, and a part-glazed door, also accessed by two steps, is in bay four. A small, single-story extension is located to the south of number eight. The interior of the buildings has not been inspected.
