Description
5 High Street is a detached house built in the late 18th century. It features local coursed rubble stone and has a plain clay tile roof with simple gables and brick chimney stacks. The house is designed in an 'L' shape and has two storeys with an attic. The north elevation, which faces away from the road, has four bays, with the first bay being gabled and slightly projecting. The first bay has six-pane sash windows, while the other bays have sixteen-pane sash windows, with additional windows added between the second and third bays on the ground floor. All windows are set under timber lintels. The entrance door, located in the third bay, is part-glazed and is topped by a dentil-moulded flat timber hood supported by double posts. There is a secondary glazed door between the third and fourth bays. Between the upper windows, there are two rendered panels, which are remnants from when the building served as a public house, as indicated by an early 20th-century Ordnance Survey map. There are extensions on the south side, with the closest to the road being a single storey. The interior has not been seen.
