Description

33 Silver Street is a 17th-century house that has been converted into two shops. The building features incised stucco and a crested pantile roof with stepped stone coping. There are truncated brick stacks at the right gable end and one at the center of the ridge. It has a four-unit plan with a rear wing on the left and stands two stories tall with a four-window range. The first floor has four late 19th-century two-over-two pane sash windows at eaves level. The ground floor includes a 19th-century four-panel door to the left of the central stack, which serves as the entrance to the left-hand shop. This shop has a cast-iron crested cornice, fluted consoles with gabled tops, and recessed trefoil heads on either side of the fascia. The shop on the right is from the 20th century. Inside, the structure has been completely altered, but it retains a 17th-century A-frame roof with a steeper pitch above.
