Description
191 and 193 High Street is a pair of houses that have been converted into shops. They were built in the early 19th century and have undergone some later alterations. The exterior features scored stucco and a gabled roof covered with renewed old tiles, along with lead-covered coping and a large brick chimney stack positioned across the roof.
The building has two storeys and a two-window range, with a top cornice and a parapet. The entrance on the left side has an architrave and a bracketed canopy over a six-panel door, which includes four fielded panels and two flush panels. To the right, there is a 20th-century shop front that features a frieze and a wide cornice above a bow window with small-paned glazing and a glazed door. On the ground floor, there is a window to the left of the centre with a sill and architrave, containing an eight-over-eight sash window in a moulded frame. The first floor has two similar windows. At the rear, there is a large hipped wing added in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
