Description

Ye Olde Tudor Dairy is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates back to the 16th century, with a 19th-century addition and extensive 20th-century alterations. The building features dressed stone and brick, as well as timber framing with plastered infill. It has gabled roofs covered with old tiles, which have been repaired, and includes a brick stack at the front ridge and a cross-axial stack.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a four-window range. To the right of the center, there is a gabled porch with stone on the right return of the ground floor, plain bargeboards, and a finial. A 20th-century shop front addition gives the ground floor a straight facade, featuring a pentice roof over a plate-glass window, flanked by leaded cross-casements and paired leaded glazed doors at each end. There is also a three-light transomed and leaded window on the left return.

The entrance is located at the right end, possibly leading to the adjoining Tudor Guest House, and features a 20th-century door. To the left of the entrance, there is a window with a three-light small-paned casement and an iron opening casement. The first floor includes a window to the left of the porch with a three-light casement, and two windows to the right of the porch with two-light casements, all featuring small-paned glazing and iron opening casements. The porch itself has a three-light small-paned casement in a pegged frame. The left return has an opening with two small trefoil-headed lights and a chamfered slit.

The first floor has close-studded framing, which has been altered to the left of the porch, and features a square-framed gable. The left return facing School Lane has a brick ground floor with a blocked window, while the first floor has a two-light small-paned casement with an iron opening casement set between arched braces. There is a parallel brick rear wing with a projecting stack, along with extensive 20th-century rear additions. The interior has not been inspected.
