Description

Numbers 187 and 189 on High Street in Henley-in-Arden are two houses that originated in the 16th century and were re-faced in the 18th century. The structure features a timber frame with painted brick on the front and has a steeply pitched roof covered with renewed tiles, along with a brick stack at the rear. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range.

On the exterior, there is a brick plat band above the ground floor and a plain cornice. The entrances are located to the left of centre for No. 187 and at the right end for No. 189. Each entrance has a moulded doorcase with a bracketed canopy. The left entrance features a six-flush-panel door, two of which are glazed, along with flanking windows that have sills supporting 20th-century casements. The right entrance has a four-panel door and a bay window to the left, which has a flat roof and 20th-century small-paned glazing. The first floor contains three windows with two-light casements; the two on the left are 20th-century, while the right window has a sill and an iron opening casement. The rear of the building showcases exposed timber framing and includes a gabled wing with a wide cross-axial stack that has gathered-in sides. The interior has not been inspected.
